A Microsoft Word table is formatted with the attribute "text wrapping = around".
The table length exceeds one page, i.e. the table covers at least 2 pages in the
original document.

When the document is imported into writer, the table covers only one page and is
cut at the end of the physical page.

Workaround:
Selecting the complete table, delete table and paste

Windows XP,Vista and Debian Lenny with OOo3.1
