Reassigned to BH OpenOffice.org Issue Tracker - Feedback Request. The Issue you raised is currently 'Unconfirmed' pending review, but has not been updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be Closed or Progressed as necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue that may have advanced further by checking the Issue Tracker: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi Many thanks, Andrew Cleaning-up and Closing old Issues as part of: ~ The Grand Bug Squash, pre v3 ~ http://marketing.openoffice.org/3.0/announcementbeta.html To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements". I have reproduced the issue in both Russian and in English (USA). After typing an acronym and then typing the next word, pressing space automatically capitalizes the word following the acronym. In addition, it appears that the writer does not honor the abbreviations list under tools -> Autocorrect -> Autocorrect options. Typing one of the accepted abbreviations (like acct. which is listed) and then typing another word and hitting the spacebar automatically capitalizes the following word. Ex: “Hello I am referencing my acct. And…” where the “a” in “and” was automatically capitalized. Adding your own abbreviations to this list does not do any good, either, as the next word following the abbreviation is still auto-capitalized. I am using OpenOffice Writer 4.1.2. Build information: AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696 2015-10-21 09:36:46 (Wed, 21 Oct 2015) on MacOS 10.11.6 El Capitan. The steps I followed are detailed below: 1. Opened a new Writer document. Went to Tools -> Language -> For all text -> More… and selected “Russian” for the Locale Setting (I did not change the UI setting from English as that was the only setting I have). Hit OK. 2. Began typing in the document. I typed the same sentence - “F.e. Rabtchevich A.V. Is typing…” and after F.e. and A.V., “Rabtchevich” and “is” ___ was automatically capitalized after hitting the spacebar. 3. Went under Tools -> Autocorrect -> Autocorrect options to look at the list of accepted abbreviations, where it specifies that using those abbreviations will result in no capitalization following the period. 4. I typed my own abbreviation (R.A.) into this box and hit “New”, which added it to the abbreviations list. Using both R.A. afterwards as well as a pre-populated abbreviation (like acct.) the behavior was unchanged. Autocapitalization still occurred to the word following the abbreviation. OpenOffice v.4.1.2 AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696 2015-10-21 09:53:29 (Mi, 21 Okt 2015) Windows 8 (No any SP) Can reproduce the bug, with following steps: 1. Open a new Writer document. 2. Type: "Golec M.A. is " Captured Result: "Golec M.A. Is " Expected: "is" was expected not to change into the "Is". Note: Issue was reproduced more than once. In other languages (Like Polish, English, ...). Other initials and words after - as well (Alike "Golec S.G. has" and "has" changed into "Has"). The abbreviations list (under tools -> Autocorrect -> Autocorrect options) - works as expected. Checked with 2 abbreviations - one existed in the system and one freshly added. Both are OK. I am Marking this confirmed based on the ports of Beverly and Monica. Beverly and Monica please consider perusing the QA orientation page at http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-qa.html and joining the QA team. This would allow you to mark bugs as confirmed and help contribute to the project. |
