defect -> enhancement SBA->mge1512: Please don't attach your e-mail footer in issue descriptions. The're part of the problem and not the solution :-) SBA: The feature to switch OFF "Menu follows mouse pointer" has been removed for OOo 2.0. The current behavior is that the menu is following the mouse, same as the default was in OOo 1.1.4. SBA->mge1512: Is it correct that you ask for the option to switch this OFF? Please comment. SBA->MMP: As discussed, please proceed. Component set to "Framework". Reassigned to MMP. mge->SBA: sorry for the footer mge->SBA: yes, "Menu follows mouse pointer" IMHO is one of the worst things regarding usability: makes OOo 2.0 nearly unusable on my notebook: please think of people using "trackpoints" (me) or suffering from disabilities (not me, but ...). mge->maxweber: this is not an enhancement, since it was there in OOo 1.1.4 so short MgE >> forward to Frank Loehmann, our accessibility expert in User Experience;
BTW I suppose it was Christian Jansen who made the change from OOo1.1 to OOo2.0.
Any news on that? TIA MgE Setting keyword "accessibility" Most times the menu width was too wide (i.e. the File menu and especially the File - New entries) when this could have become a problem, because the delay before the menu follows the mouse pointer, if a menu is open, is about half a second. But OOo 2.0 has introduced a new "Recent Documents" entry for the File menu, so that the width of that menu is now _much_ smaller and fixed. Furthermore this issue becomes no problem at all when using the keyboard, what is a much more important aspect for accessibility. Since this never had been an accessibility option and the current behavior conforms to the operating system guide lines, I propose not to handle this as an accessibility issue. FL: Closed, since there were no further comments added. |
