Description ats0j8_openoffice 2008-09-28 18:28:29 UTC
When entering formulas in Impress, the only way to enter them is as objects
separate from text. Many slides that use formulas require formulas that flow
with the text (inline formulas). OpenOffice Writer supports this, but
OpenOffice Impress does not.

This is a major nuisance and makes OpenOffice extremely tedious for
presentations involving mathematical formulas. Many people in the sciences use
LaTeX for the simple reason that formulas in Impress are still such a pain.

(I searched the issue tracker and couldn't find an existing issue filed on this.
I'm amazed that there isn't one; this is such a fundamental problem with
Impress, and so many people are struggling with it.)

Are you sure you need a new enhancement request? It is more effective to focus
on few requests and collect high votes for them.

Please have a look at issue 22309.

Workaround: Use a writer document with customized page size and insert it as OLE
in impress. If you do not embed it, but link to it, you can edit the formula if
you open it in writer.
