low contrast is done:

do you mean high contrast icons?
(see example of high contrast toolbar icons: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Icon_Themes#High_Contrast)

high contrasts icons of mime type also exist.
have a look at: "	default_images/res/"
