Description krusader23 2009-03-09 00:29:33 UTC
1. Ctrl+f12, 5 rows, 2 columns
2. mark all cells, set the font size to 2 for them
3. pick a cell somewhrere in the middle
4. split it horizontally (---------) in two parts
5. merge the two parts
What is happening is that the "back merged" cell doesn't retain it's shape as it
was before the splitting process. It is very frustrating, when you try to create
a table with your weekly to-do plan - when you need a table with very many very
small rows (horizontally small)( 7:00, 7:15, 7:30). All table messes, when you
try to merge that particular cell again.
Try to make that kind of weekly plan yourself.

I checked with "Ooo 3.0.1 (DE) Multilingual version GERMAN UI WIN XP: [OOO300m15
(Build 9379)]" and did not see anything unexpected.

@krusader23:
Pls.
- specify your OS and Platform
- explain "... doesn't retain it's shape" (screenshot might be useful?)

I also cannot see the problem, the just splitted cell re-merges perfectly here
using OOo 3.0.1 or 3.1 dev build.
Comment 3 michael.ruess 2009-03-13 16:39:05 UTC
Not reproducible.

You're right, my bug tracking steps don't work ;). I've created an attachement
with an .odt file showing the problem.

I checked with "Ooo Dev 3.1.0 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOo310m2
(Build 9385)]" and can confirm the reported effect. Same with "Ooo 3.0.1 (DE)
Multilingual version GERMAN UI WIN XP: [OOO300m15 (Build 9379)]" and "2.4.1
Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [680m17(Build9310)]". "1.1.4 (German) WIN
XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]" is not affected.

The problem can be producedeasily:
1. Create new writer document
2. Insert new table with 2 rows and 2 columns
3. Select the complete table and set the row height to 40mm, uncheck
   "Fit to size"
4. split bottom right cell and split it vertically into 4 sub-cells
5. Select 2 most top sub cells and try to merge.
Expected: height all complete row will remain, the merged sub cell should
have double sub cell height, unmerged cells should remain without
             any modification
Actual: After merge you see 3 sub cells with identical height,
height of complete row will be reduced.

MRU->OS: Place cursor e.g. in cell D6, split it vertically into 2 cells, merge
these two cells (not Undo!) -> row 6 got a new height.
