Description aziem 2009-04-15 06:05:30 UTC
** Procedure:
In the welcome wizard click Finish after OOo registration

** Error dialog:
Title: "JRE Required"
Body: "OpenOffice requires a Java Runtime environment (JRE) to perform this
task. Please install a JRE and restart OpenOffice.org."

** System:
OOo 3.1.0 rc 1
Win XP SP3 (clean install without any JRE)
Comment 1 kpalagin 2009-04-15 18:48:44 UTC
Happens even with preinstalled Java. Regression.
Comment 2 kpalagin 2009-04-16 07:41:55 UTC
Correction - as initially specified this issue happens only without JRE
previously installed.
Comment 3 mdxonefour 2009-04-16 08:56:10 UTC
Indeed the error message could be improved in this case. For example "The
OpenOffice.org product registration requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
To perform the product registration, please install a JRE and re-call the
registration from the Office menu Help->Registration..."

This dialog may simply have an "Ok" button. After hitting this Ok button the
launch of the application can continue as usual.

Since this change results not only results into code changes but also in new
translations, I would suggest target 3.2 to change it.

Btw. I assume that the error message found here is not that new. I would think
it's the same behavior since 2.4 release.

OK, apparently this happens only when usinhg installer without JRE (which I
incidentally got), so not a big problem then.
Regards,
KP.
