Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10283
supscripts and subscripts
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:54:45 UTC
I'm trying to use something like {{a sup 2} sup 2} sup 2 in formula editor All supscripts appear on the same level. In my understanding they should rise according to level. The same applies to subscripts as well. I also can see this behaviour on Windows PC.
TL: Need to think about this. Especially considereing already existing versions with different behaviour. If it gets fixed it is likely that there will be an UI change also (an additional option). -> OOo 2.0
Set to enhancement since this would be new.
.
If we like to have this there will probably a new UI option introduced which allows the user to select between the old and new behaviour.
TL->BH: To you for decision.
Easier use of supscript and subscript. Currently that works with adding the text left and right within the brackets.
Currently using version 1.0.4 and it works correctly. (x sup 2) sup 3 displays as (x squared) cubed, with the "2" and "3" at the same level. This is behavious I would expect. x sup {2 sup 3} displays x to the power of two cubed, with the 3 a superscript relative to the 2, and two cubed as a whole a superscript of x. Again this is the behaviour I would expect. I would not recommend changing anything in this regard. IMO the spacing is pretty horrible, but the general behaviour is correct.
Oops sorry, I'm using 1.1.0, not 1.0.4 as I said above.
