Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 102949
"Text placeholders", "Hidden Text","BrochureRTL",printer settings get lost when saving a file
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:44:00 UTC
Text placeholders are not printed, even if the "Text placeholder" option is set in "Tools - Options - StarOffice Writer - Print". When clicking on "File - Print" and then choose [Options], the option "Text placeholder" is NOT set there. The text placeholder is then not printed. If the user sets the option extra in the options of the printer dialog, then the placeholder is printed. There is no sample document needed, it can be easily reproduced from scratch.
Cannot reproduce on Vista with in 310m11. Which Solaris do you use? 10, 11?
Feel free to reopen when you have more information (and a sample document would help even if you think it's not needed)

This issue happens only under Solaris (as can be seen in the OS box on top). Reopened.
Which Solaris version do you use? 10 or 11?
Solaris 10 on a SunRay. I did not test it on other Solaris systems.
Works fine on SunRay Solaris 10 in a current DEV300m51. Text placeholder are printed when the option is checked. Please attach a sample document
This issue is reproducible with a document created from scratch. Additional information: Before the described behavior can be seen, the document needs to be saved at least once and reloaded.
Final and correct description: - On Vista also -> OS = All - New Writer doc - "Tools - Options - OOo-dev Writer - Print" - Check every check boxes - Change "Notes" to something else as the default - Change "Fax" to something else as "<none>" - Save the document - Reload -> "Tools - Options - OOo-dev Writer - Print" or "File - Printer Settings - Options": Reset to default are: - Text placeholders - Hidden Text - Print in Black - Brochure - Notes - Fax Note: Also tested Calc and Draw. Calc is ok but Draw makes "odd things". Feel free to forward to the Graphics team... Note 2: no regression. Same in 2.4.
please take over
Hello, Testing for issue 89866 (hidden text), I noticed the problem of lost settings, BUT if you set it twice, settings are saved : - open or create a document - File > Print, Options - check some settings (hidden text, print black, text placeholder, reversed, brochure, create single jobs,...) - OK, OK => printing - File > Print, Options => Settings are lost - check some settings (same or different) - OK, OK => printing - File > Print, Options Last settings are saved ! Then save file, close it, open it - File > Print, Options => some settings are lost: - hidden text not saved - text placeholder not saved - all other saved On WinXP-SP3 with DEV300_m52, OOo 3.1.0 (OOO310_m11) and OOO310_m15.
Created attachment 63717 [details] Fix for HiddenText, Placeholder and Brochuer RTL
HiddenText, Placeholder and Brochure RTL are the ones that are not saved. I can't see a problem with the other ones mentioned.
Fixed in cws os134 in sw/inc/printdata.hxx sw/source/ui/uno/unomod.cxx Summary adjusted
Reassigned for verification

Verified in CWS os140.
Checked in DEV300m60.
Please re-open; PrintBlackFonts is not being loaded from settings.xml, at the very least, even with 3.2.0 m60 (installed & tested today.) Same with PrintDrawings. "Load printer settings with the document" is checked. Sometimes it looks like loading is working, but then I discover OOO seems to be changing a global setting (saving my preferences), not looking at the actual files -- if I modify them and repackage them, it doesn't notice. Another tell-tale sign: if you change the "Print black fonts" option, then close the document, it does not prompt you to save changes (which it should, if it's intending to write the option to settings.xml.)

mru->unordained: in general, this works, but there seem to be some special cases. I have submitted f'up issue 106342.
