Default font replacement for Calibri/Cambria on Mac
Last modified: 2010-03-01 12:32:36 UTC
Calibri is the default font of Excel 2007. When a file that uses Calibri is loaded in the Mac version, the replacement is a font that's much higher, so the cells sometimes look bad (the worst effect is with bold, 10 pt, vertical aligment "top"). If Arial is used as a replacement, these documents look much better. The default heading font in Excel 2007 is Cambria. The default replacement for that looks different (Cambria has serifs), but doesn't have the wrong size. For reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calibri http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambria_(typeface)
@macport: what is the best stylistic match for the Calibri and Cambria on a default OSX 10.4/10.5 installation?
@hdu I'm not a font specialist, but a quick search in the list of available fonts lead me to : either Hiragino Maru Gothic Pro or Tahoma ? HTH
Thanks. Calibri looks reasonably similar to OSX's "Hiragino Maru Gothic Pro". Now we just need something similar for Cambria.
Strange as it may sound but on a freshly installed OSX "Apple Lisong" seems to be the best match for "Cambria". Applied both substitution suggestions in CWS vcl104.
