Description oo_gary 2009-08-05 04:10:59 UTC
Tables in documents saved as .doc 97/2000 lose their brains. Text from
multiple cells concatenated into one cell. Other text translated, transposed,
or mushed in cells it shouldn't be in. Format/Character/Rotation is altered
90deg/0deg not quite randomly but certainly in hodgepodge fashion enough to
make the table look like one of the better grades of dog crap that I've seen.
I will try and attach the files. Between my version 5 file(odt) and version 6
file(doc) I changed the BG color to light gray, typed in a bunch of X's in
cells and maybe remove a couple rows but, version 5 gives an idea of what it
looked like on screen before saving to .doc. If you then open version 6 (.doc)
using oowriter you will see the embarassment that I experienced when I realized
I hadn't saved an .odt after my last entry and before saving as .doc.

to repro open odt, save as doc/97/2000, close doc, open doc.

MRU->oo_gary: the problem regarding rotation is already tracked in two other issues.

MRU->HBRINKM: please focus on the table layout problem. When exporting the
attached document to WW8 and reopening many of the cells are incorre4ctly merged
into one cell. I also got a crash in DEV300m53 when re-opening the document. I
will post the report ID here.
Maybe this is related to issue 103374.
Worked fine in OOo 3.0.

Comment 7 openoffice 2009-10-30 14:18:34 UTC
reopened after fixing Issue 103374 the export still causes errors when loading in Word 2007
Comment 8 openoffice 2010-08-25 12:36:30 UTC
Analysis: Some vertically merged cells are not exported as such. Some cells do get no background color.
Comment 9 thorsten.ziehm 2010-11-09 10:06:20 UTC
OOo 3.3 is nearly final. I change the target of this issue to OOo 3.x. Please
find a solution and set a correct target, if you know when a fix can be integrated.
Comment 10 openoffice 2011-03-04 11:26:16 UTC
Analysis: The number of cells in limited to 32 per row in legacy Word documents. Hence ww8 export adheres it.
Comment 11 openoffice 2011-03-04 12:05:27 UTC
fixed in sw34bf04:
changeset: 746b213b774d

@mst: Please review.
