In Oo 1.0.1 on Mandrake 9.0 on a 350 Pentium the procedure Insert - Fields -
Date [not Date(Fixed}] - Format [scroll down to] Additional Formats -

(1) defaults to [format name] Long year Arabic Hangul dateformat
[format code] YYYY (symbol symbol symbol) M (symbol etc) D (etc)

When that is replaced by Standard User-defined and DDDD D MMMM YYYY
respectively, three times, this happens:

(2) First time, changes not saved
Second time, days and months not spelled in full, or at all; character set
changes to only numerals (in correct positions) and skinny boxes; changes not saved
Third time, option of saving changes (green tick-box) remains greyed

(3) When OO is closed and reopened a previously inserted date field in a
document becomes not a field but numerals (in correct positons) separated by
question marks.

Repeating the exercise, at point 1 there are no day or month spellings in the
scroll box, just skinny boxes, at point 2 all user-defined labels vanish, and at
point 3 the numerals are not separated by question marks.

OO is a splendid programme and you all have my grateful thanks.

Ken, thank you for using and supporting OOo.

We need some clarification on the problem you are experiencing? Are
we correct in assuming that the custom date you enter does not appear
in the Fields pop up window after you create the custom field?

Partially duplicated on RH 9.0, OOO 1.0.3.1 & OOo 1.1Beta2

User defined date fields do not appear in Date format list in Fields
popup window.

1.  Insert->Fields->Other

2. Document Tab
    Type: Date
    Select: Date(Fixed)
    Format: Additional Formats

3. Create custom format.

4. Click on Close on Fields pop up window.

5. Repeat step 1. Notice custom date field is not listed.

FL->OS: Please store those user defined number formats in the office
configuration. Since we do not have a Remove or Delete Key in the dialog, we
have to use the DEL key to delete a user defined number format (without any
confirmation dialog).

Kind of new feature. Won't be possible to solve for OO 2.0.
