Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10752
Can read Lotus WK1 files correctly, but can't write them
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:39:48 UTC
This is a slight variant of the request for reading more current versions of Lotus 123 spreadsheet files. As best I can discren, OO can read WK1 files, but can't write them. WK1 is one of the oldest and most common spreadsheet formats. WK1 files have been the lingua franca of exchanging numeric tabular data for years (long before XML). It would be convenient if OO could write those files as diverse programs like DB2 import and export data cleanly to and from WK1 format files. This format often works better than the less standardized CSV format. Eventually there may be widespread adoption of an XML equivalent, but until then WK1 is quite useful.
