Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 11213
Graphics problem in Export Directly to PDF
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
When I export a file to PDF, all my pages and text export correctly, but the embedded graphics has some "ghosting".

I seem to have a problem with the files I uploaded. When I try to retrieve them they are being 'read' by my browser as text. Also the zip file. I think the problem might be my selection of type of file. I selected text. What should it be?
Thanks to the users mailing list: Press Shift and click to download.
After further testing, I have found the problem to be the way I pasted the graphics into the document. The problem is when I paste the graphics as plain Bitmap. In the Document file and printing, the graphics looks correct. Only when I export to PDF then I get this problem with the Bitmap. Attached is another test file (sxw and PDF - zipped as 643c_PDF_test2.zip) showing the same graphics that has been pasted in different formats.

Quentin, thank you for using and supporting OOo. 1.1 Beta 2 is better, but I still see some minor artifacts ( using your original test case ). What does it look like on your box using 1.1 Beta 2?

HI->Quentin: If you export to PDF since the beginning by button on the Function bar, you will get the pdf result with less quality. This is mostly enough for text documents only and it saves memory. If you export over Menu File - Export as PDF... you'll have the choice for quality; Screen, Print and Press optimized. The default is Screen optimized. Your new set will keep as default for further exports also valid for the button on the function bar. And, since RC4 the default is "Print optimized" now.
Closed.
