Description Joe Smith 2010-07-31 21:48:10 UTC
I notice that OOO330_m2 has changed the spacing after Greek symbols: it is now
larger than before.

The same formula, created in an earlier OOo version, will have its spacing
altered if it is edited in the new version.

See the attached document to demonstrate the problem.

The problem does not seem to come from the updated OpenSymbol font; samples
using that font don't show any extra space.

I suppose it hardly matters, since the space after the symbols was already too
big--making it a bit larger hardly makes it any worse. I just thought it was odd
that the spacing should change like this.

I'm running "OOo-dev 3.3 330m2(Build:9516)" on Fedora Linux 13.

I can not confirm this with DEV300_m83 or OOO330_m2 and Windows. See attached
images.

TL->MRU: Can you please check if this is OS or distribution specific? Thanks!

tl->ih: Can you comment on this? Did anything change in this respect regrading
the greek symbols at the new correct code points compared to the old ones from
the private use area?

tl->jes: Note that in OOo 3.3 the code point in use for %delta does NOT come
anymore from the private use area. It is now uses the correct code point which
is 0x03B4.
Also please take note of issue 113586. Maybe you problems are because of
somewhere on your system the old OpenSymbol can still be found and gets used
with OOO330. Even though I would not have expected the kind of problem you do
experience.

MRU->TL: I can confirm on ububntu64. It looks, that this only happens on 64bit
Linux. Windows and SUSE 32bit did not show the problem.
However, on 64bit Linux the spacing became less compared to OOo 3.2.1.

From tl:

Thanks--you are exactly right. Sorry I didn't think of this :O

Instead of the new OpenSymbol, my tests were actually using the system-wide
font, installed by Fedora's package of OOo 3.2.

If I repeat the tests where I know 330m2 uses the new font file, then I get
normal results, in fact the spacing I see is now less than before, as mru noted
above.

I'm running 32-bit X86.

This can be closed as far as I'm concerned; it seems to be a font
version/selection issue, which is already covered by Issue 113586.
