Description hari1963 2010-10-20 12:54:57 UTC
When Geometric shapes (Basic Shapes) are inserted, they transit smoothly during
fade-in, but are jerky during fade-out. I have Ubuntu 10.04 as the OS and
OpenOffice version is 3.2

I think that I am able to replicate this using the original attachment.

The problem I was able to reproduce when I used the provided attachment was a sort of flicker when the shape begins to fade out. For a fraction of a second the shape disappears from the slide, and then reappears and begins to fade out. (I suspect this is what you meant by "jerky during fade-out")

System Specs:
- OOo-dev 3.4.0 - DEV300m106 (Build:9582)
- Windows Vista Home Premium - SP2 - 32 bit
- 3GB RAM, Intel Core2 Duo E7200

In trying to find the minimum inputs required for this bug I reprodued the problem on a fresh presentation:
1) Create new blank presentation
2) Using the "Basic Shapes" button, select "Ellipse"
3) Create 3 ellipse on the slide
4) click on the first ellipse, in "Custom Animation" set "Exit: Fade Out", set the "Start: After Previous"
5) do the same with the remaining 2 ellipse.
6) change the order of the transitions to be: Shape 2, Shape 1, Shape 3
7) Press <F5> to view slideshow.
8) **When Shape 3 starts to fade, it will flicker once.

Necessary inputs appear to be:
- the order of the transitions must be changed away from the order the objects were created.
- the problem object must be "Start: After Previous"

Additional information:
- I have successfully reproduced this with the "Fade out and Zoom" as well as "Contract" exit transitions, thus it is not ONLY on the "Fade Out" transition.

- Inspecting the original attachment again, I noticed that its transitions are "in order", and thus the reproduction scenario that I found does not seem to be a necessary input, only a sufficient one.

Useful Follow up Tests that I have not had the opportunity to run:
- Try the reproduction scenario with different shapes and combinations of shapes.
- Try to determine why the original attached presentation flickers even though the transitions are "in order"
- Try the original presentation file on Linux to see if the "Flicker" described is what the original reported was seeing.

Why this bug is important to customers:
- The seemingly random nature of the problem will perplex most users, who will not be able to figure out why certain objects flicker and others do not. (no obvious workaround).

File reproducing problem with only 3 elements

This file supports Comment #2. It was created from scratch, and contains only 3 shapes + 3 transitions, and exhibits the same symptoms as the original attachment.

Still Reproducible with "AOO 4.0.1 Release – German UI / German locale [AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev. 1524958 2013-09-20 11:40:29]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4.0 User Profile used for all predecessor versions. I will do some more research (DUPs , ...) before CONFIRMED
Comment 5 Rainer Bielefeld 2014-04-06 15:49:27 UTC
Very vague suspect: related to effects in "Issue 124557 - Slideshow without hardware acceleration: Particular objects covered with black rectangle" because of "effect only appears related to other elements ... ?

No DUPs found, so CONFIRMED
