An extensive document has endnotes which in some cases are illustrated with jpg 
images inserted using "insert picture from file".  On retrieving the document 
many but not all the images were lost.  Problem arose January 2011 after a 
period of inactivity of around 2 months

I cannot reproduce the problem using OOo 3.3. I inserted the attached jpg into
different endnotes, saved the document and re-opened -> all graphics were in
place as expected.
Could you please upgrade to OOo 3.3 and try with this version?

Not reproducible.
Feel free to reopen if this still happens in version 3.3 and then give a step by
step description of what you do.

3.3 downloaded and images pasted as suggested.  So far so good - no problems
