incorrectly rendered ruby looks like it's under the characters of the previous line.

This issue seems easy enough to solve. The first issue is that the fallback font can't be changed, so that when someone uses the standard font for OpenOffice some Japanese characters are rendered differently than others. (However, the placement of ruby characters is "proper"). The second (and most important) issue is that when the font is changed to a Japanese font, the ruby characters appear rendered above the vertical ascent, and not below it (as they should be).

The simplest fix I can imagine is the addition of an "offset" box to the Asian Phonetic Guide, like the one in Microsoft Office 2007.

After a quick glance at what might be required to do this myself I realize I have no hope of accomplishing this on my own. But for various reasons (see attachment) the current ruby support is nearly unusable; for example. it makes it look as if the rubies are placed under the Japanese characters on the proceeding line.

Changing line spacing does not solve this problem, it merely clips the ruby characters (which is what led me to believe they are being incorrectly rendered above the vertical ascent of the font.)

Ruby characters should be rendered inside the font space, and failing that we need an offset control which controls how close the ruby is rendered to the baseline. Please help! This is a game breaker for Japanese, I can't use this program to write a book which requires Japanese Ruby and I don't know what else to do.
