label example

This is not a 3.4beta problem, but a 3.4 final release problem.

I own a Dymo LabelWriter 450. When I want to use this printer from Writer, I do the following:

1. Start Writer.
2. Go to File > Printer Settings and choose the LabelWriter.
3. Use properties to change the layout to landscape.
4. After doing all this I now see a document with the size of the loaded label, or at least sort of.
5. Now I use Format > Page > Page to change the margins. The nominal size of these particular labels is 89 x 28mm. However the paper size shown in this tab is 8.89 x 4.50cm, and at first it is not possible to change the height of the label to the proper 2.8cm. Only after changing the top and bottom margins from the default 2cm to for instance 0.3cm is it possible to adjust the height of the page to 2.8cm. It seems the correct page height taken from the printer driver (2.8cm) is initially overruled by a calculated height of top margin + bottom margin + 0.5cm. In my view this is incorrect. The paper size is a hard value, the margins are user adjustable. A warning that the margins are incorrect after point 4 would be a better solution, but the document should always show up with the proper real paper size.
5. After editing the labels I obviously want to print them, so I click on File > Print. The Print Window will show the proper label size (89 x 28mm), even if the paper height of the document has not been corrected from 4.50cm to 2.80cm. The print itself however doesn't function properly. The attached label will not print beyond halfway the first "S", so instead of "TEST TEST" I get "TES".

I'm not sure the actual print ranges on this label printer, but with the margins set the way I have it this allows a complete label to be printed. Avoiding the strange cutoff that has appeared since 3.3 for me

I also have this problem. Presents in 3.3 and 3.4, but not in 3.2. Xp sp2&3, SB2003, and Vista tested.

I found a small workaround where I make the label just slightly shorter than it is wide. 3.4x3.5 It looks horrible and like it wont print, and you still have to make sure your label doesn't run off the bottom. For some reason, it clips the horizontal based on the vertical. I've attached a modified one that I use that works for us.
