Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 12017
SO3 and SO4 Templates (*.vor) opened as regular documents
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
The templates are opened as regular documents, ie no new document named "untitled" is created. This also happens with OOo 643 SO5 Templates work fine, also the xml-based templates work. To reproduce: 1) Create a template using save as StarOffice 3.0 (or 4.0) Template 2) Close document and open the template -> OOo doesn't create a new document based on template, instead opens it as is.
Reassigned to TM.
The behaviour of opening templates has been changed. So opening a template from the file-open dialog just opens the template and doesn´t create a new document, based on the chosen template, as it did before. Using templates for creating a new file, now only works via file/new/templates and documents.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details.
reopen issue: Could you please tell me why this behaviour has changed?
..and why it is inconsitent? ie "new" templates are opened as templates, whereas "old" templates are opened as documents?
*** Issue 13022 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
And again the behaviour has been changed to the old behaviour ! So this issue can be set to fixed !
.
reopen issue. In OOo1.1rc SO3 & SO4 templates (.vor) are opened as regular documents, whereas SO5 (.vor as well) and higher templates create a new document (as expected). Please open SO3 and SO4 - templates with creating a new document. Lowered Priority - not important since SO3 & 4 are rarely used... Initial target milestone set to 2.0 (for the same reason)
Strange, behaviour has changed in an actual internal build again to open every template as a document in edit mode. User experience group (MMP) will clarify the behaviour with the development section within 4 weeks.
User experience group mentioned that it still takes some time to decide which behaviour may be the wanted one for the next build. MMP will give a statement in 3 weeks.
TM->BH: Please refer to MMP, who still might know how this behaviour will be changed and solved in the future.
Hello Matthias, as this area is currently your theme, I set this issue on your owner. Thank you.
changed target to Office later
