Description lohmaier 2003-03-03 23:32:27 UTC
The templates are opened as regular documents, ie no new document named
"untitled" is created.
This also happens with OOo 643

SO5 Templates work fine, also the xml-based templates work.

To reproduce:
1) Create a template using save as StarOffice 3.0 (or 4.0) Template
2) Close document and open the template

-> OOo doesn't create a new document based on template, instead opens it as is.

Reassigned to TM.
Comment 2 thorsten.martens 2003-03-11 10:29:48 UTC
The behaviour of opening templates has been changed. So opening a
template from the file-open dialog just opens the template and doesn´t
create a new document, based on the chosen template, as it did before.
Using templates for creating a new file, now only works via
file/new/templates and documents.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
unfortunately to set them to verified.

<wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details.
Comment 5 lohmaier 2003-04-19 12:58:21 UTC
reopen issue: Could you please tell me why this behaviour has changed?
Comment 6 lohmaier 2003-04-19 13:00:24 UTC
..and why it is inconsitent? ie "new" templates are opened as
templates, whereas "old" templates are opened as documents?
Comment 7 lohmaier 2003-05-02 13:34:10 UTC
*** Issue 13022 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
Comment 8 thorsten.martens 2003-05-19 10:04:06 UTC
And again the behaviour has been changed to the old behaviour ! So
this issue can be set to fixed !

Comment 10 lohmaier 2003-07-18 23:43:31 UTC
reopen issue.
In OOo1.1rc SO3 & SO4 templates (.vor) are opened as regular
documents, whereas SO5 (.vor as well) and higher templates create a
new document (as expected).
Please open SO3 and SO4 - templates with creating a new document.
Lowered Priority - not important since SO3 & 4 are rarely used...
Initial target milestone set to 2.0 (for the same reason)
Comment 11 thorsten.martens 2003-09-16 12:21:02 UTC
Strange, behaviour has changed in an actual internal build again to
open every template as a document in edit mode.
User experience group (MMP) will clarify the behaviour with the
development section within 4 weeks.
Comment 12 thorsten.martens 2003-10-15 11:35:00 UTC
User experience group mentioned that it still takes some time to
decide which behaviour may be the wanted one for the next build. MMP
will give a statement in 3 weeks.
Comment 13 thorsten.martens 2003-12-04 12:35:46 UTC
TM->BH: Please refer to MMP, who still might know how this behaviour
will be changed and solved in the future.
