Description ghia 2013-10-28 06:22:50 UTC
I had a Calc document open for a week.
The PC was also on since then (just hibernating from time to time).
This weekend we were going to wintertime in Belgium.
Today on monday I changed something and clicked the save icon.
A message appeared that some other user altered the document since it was opened and that these changes could be lost.
As I'm certain not to have altered the file, nor other users are present, I expect that the message came by comparing local times, which now differed and thus provoking the message. I clicked OK.
This may as well be the case for the other Open Office programs as eg Writer etc. or with the transition to summertime.

Such a confusion is inevitable.
It is never good practice to leave a document open for a week.
Comment 2 ghia 2013-10-28 07:27:52 UTC
I disagree for the inevitable.
Would it not be resolved by comparing times in UTC?

BTW The document was open for quick and regular reference.
Changes are saved directly after modification.

The programming effort for just an hour a year is not worth it...
Having files open for prolonged periods is a recipe for problems.
