Test with MS-Word viewer and your files don't open: read error.
Comment 2 eberlein 2014-08-18 10:19:32 UTC
Opens fine with WinWord 2010. Documents are created with Office 2007
Comment 3 Kay 2014-08-18 23:09:27 UTC
These dotm files do not open with the current 4.1.1 release candidate.

We have a reference that OpenOffice supported opening dotm files in Writer ver 3.x at:

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOo3_User_Guides/Getting_Started/File_formats

eberlin: Has this worked for you in the past with an older OpenOffice?
Comment 4 eberlein 2014-08-26 06:08:26 UTC
Didn't try.
But opening a file should never crash the office.
Comment 5 Andrea Pescetti 2014-09-01 11:56:33 UTC
Crash confirmed by opening the file named "Anfrage..." in the attached archive. Whatever we are supposed to do with that file, the crash is surely unacceptable.

Sure, opens fine too with OneDrive and Word online but unable to modify.
Could you attach a docx rather a MS-Word template?
