Description Unknown 2003-08-07 10:36:06 UTC
I made a complex table, I saved the document and I reopened. The table appeared
messed up. Nothing to do with it. Also it is too hard to work with tables in the
way that manual adjusting of cells borders is difficult.

Another issue is that oo.org does not allow to write 90 degrees text in tables
or should I say it allow but the text is not visible in its entirety.
Comment 1 laimis 2003-08-07 18:31:20 UTC
Hi,

can I please see the sample document with the complex table? It is
necessary in order to attempt to reproduce the bug. You can attach the
document from the bug form.

Next thing, it is advisable to not report several issues in one form.
The problems you have with table resizing the table and 90 degree text
have to be reported as seperate issues in order to resolve them
effectively.

Waiting for the document attachement, thank you.

The problem with adjusting the table occured when I tried to fix that
anomalies you'll see in the doc.
Comment 5 laimis 2003-08-08 14:41:25 UTC
Yeah, I tried playing around and creating the table that you want, and
I found like a dozen of problems with tables that I will have to file
as bugs. Yours is also an issue, except now I'm thinking how to report
this so that developers would have an easier time seeing the problem
and looking for solutions.

Now about that 90 degree text: it is possible to do that in
Format->Character under Tab Position you will find 90 degree setting.
Comment 6 laimis 2003-08-20 03:24:16 UTC
Please have a look at the reporter's attached files and try creating a
table like that. It is very hard to do, and gets out of hand fast. The
problem with this issue is that it is hard to define a problem. I'm
confirming this to attract some attention to table creation.

Reassigned to MRU
Comment 8 michael.ruess 2003-08-26 11:12:12 UTC
MRU->AMA: Please also have an eye on this, when planning new table
concept. The handling of adjusting cell sizes with the mouse must also
be improved.
Comment 9 Unknown 2003-08-27 11:53:35 UTC
You shouldn't release 1.1 until you repair this bug.

Two solutions for a complex table
Comment 11 andreas.martens 2003-08-27 16:18:17 UTC
Okay, it's not easy to create such complex table. Please have a look
at my attachment. I found two different solutions, the first by
creating a table and split the cells, the second is a simple table
structure where I deleted only the border of cells without really
merging them.
We've to make our table manipulation more intuitive, so far, so good.
But what's the problem which should be fixed for OOo1.1?
When I'm right you saved a complex table and when you reopened the
file the table was damaged? Is this reproducable?

Comment 13 andreas.martens 2003-09-15 08:04:50 UTC
Some improvement is planned even it will not be too easy to create
such complex tables.

SBA: According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap
(see http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to
"OOo Later".

The problem of merging cells in a row of varying cell heights / adjusting
individual row heights, is covered by Issue 4032. Regards, Andrew.
