Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19791
Excel chart importing in OO spreadsheet (partly) fails
Last modified: 2003-12-05 17:57:43 UTC
When I import a more complicated excel chart (2 y-axis chart, surface plot) into oo, the chart isn't shown correctly. For the 2 y-axis this is solved by e.g defining the correct axis to use (2nd -right- axis i/o 1st -left- axis and vice-versa) for the data columns manually. A (2D) surface plot translates to a (3D) one. The legend doesn't translate quite OK. This may also be caused by the scaling of the 3D plot. Should I also provide an example?
Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test it. (Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily) Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is small, but we still able to see the problem.
Created attachment 9496 [details] Issue 19791 zipped example XLS files
The issue19791.zip document contains 2 files: - energie.xls : the 1st graph does have 2 y axis. The 2 large-value columns should report to the left side, the small-value columns report to the right. Seems 1st and 2nd target axis are switched. - odf basisblad2.xls: may contain unsupported graphs?
i will look at this
I can Reproduce the problem on OpenOffice 1.1 RC4(default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1. (And MS Office XP Sp2). It is real problem energie.xls when opeing on OOo 1.1 Rc4 1. many graph line is missing 2. 2nd graph, date is changed, and also the Y axist is different range. o, 20, 40 .... 160 changed to 0, 10, 20, ....150 odf basisblad2.xls take very long time to open, and different graph. I think it is not yet available in OOo. I suggest you create anither issuezilla for this as RFE.
I will open another issue for the 2nd file as an RFE.
@submitter:Your initial comment that the second chart is an unsupported type is correct. calc, as yet does not support surface type charts. But this feature is part of the: http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/featurewishes.html So there is no need to create another issue for this. I am still looking at the first issue to exhaust any possible workarounds.
The data series order seems to confuse the chart engine. The series order of columns C,H,I,E rather than C,E,H,I. This explains why the second chart on the same sheet is much better and very similar to Excel. This issue appears to be the same as issue 15555. I will close it as a duplicate. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 15555 ***
