Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22816
no special character shortcuts!
Last modified: 2003-11-30 17:17:00 UTC
i have searched. i have looked for them. but i have regrettably been absolutely unable to find the keyboard shortcut codes for special characters (that is, if they exist). this is so excruciatingly annoying, i am even considering moving back to MS office, just so i can have the shortcuts and not have to find them in the fiddly box for *one character*.
Somewhere on Windows, DOS, linux, unix and Mac systems (all of them) is a place for default keyboard shortcuts that affect the entire system. You have to go to them and remove the ones that cause you the most trouble with OOo to get rid of them. OOo does not "capture the keyboard" (which might not be a bad idea, come to think of it). I had to get rid of Ctrl-7 and F11 (which did things I never used on my base system) so I could use them in OOo. Give it a try.
