Description ooo 2004-02-12 22:41:37 UTC
When you want to insert a time or date field then the ISO standard
formats YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm and YYYY-MM-YY hh:mm:ss are missing in the list. Even
in "Additional formats" in the "Fields" dialog box.

OpenOffice.org as an Open Source project should follow open standards where
ever there is one because open standards is one of the best weapens against
close source compatitors when governments have to decide which products to
use.

Why not using date AND time fields?
The ISO format (ISO 8601 / DIN 5008 / EN 28601) (YYYY-MM-DD) is present in the
default list - as are the time formats HH:MM and HH:MM:SS
So just insert "<iso-date><space><time-field>" into your document and you're done.

closing worksforme.

Just because it works for you then it is not the same as it works for
everybody else.

Using open standards are essential for Open Source Software in the competition
against closed source software.

What you propose is a workaround and not the final solution.

I'll reopen this issue and change the issue type from DEFECT to ENHANCEMENT.

And by the way - your solution won't work in a spreadsheet so why have
different formats in the applications?
Comment 4 lohmaier 2004-02-13 22:58:33 UTC
well, since writer and calc share the formats, (see commments from er in issue
3093 ) and you already filed an issue for shreadsheet that has been reassigned
to the appropriate person I'll close this one as duplicate.

You can still define a user defined format and then save the document as default
template...
