Description johnpettigrew 2004-06-14 10:44:38 UTC
I can set keyboard shortcuts on my system - except for some keys. The one that
triggered this for me is Ctrl-+, which I am used to binding to superscript. When
I tried this, OOo appeared to set it (it appears in the list properly, as with
other shortcuts) but won't actually use it. When I use Ctrl-+ (with or without
Shift), OOo simply inserts a + symbol. Binding a different command (e.g. Show
About info) makes no difference. All the other keys I've tried work OK.

This is unlikely to be a hardware or general system config issue, because no
other app has this problem (certainly, it works in MS Word under CrossoverOffice
and in The GIMP).

Using SUSE linux 9.1, OOo 1.1.1 (SUSE 9.1 version, from the distro disks), KDE 3.2

MRU->ES: pls have a look.
Comment 2 eric.savary 2004-06-14 13:23:59 UTC
I can't reproduce it.
Please check if:
- this shortcut is already used by the system (KDE shortcuts)
- if the Ctrl key is really available (works in other apps than OOo).

What happens if you remap Ctrl+-, for example?

Sorry - hadn't checked issuezilla in a while and hadn't received notification
emails.

As I mentioned in the initial report, this shortcut is not already claimed by
the window manager and it works in other applications, including the Gimp and MS
Word under wine.

Now I got it! :)

ES->CD: on Linux, only Ctrl++(Numpad) can be mapped in the Customize - Keyboard
dialog. trl++(Main keyboard area) does not react. On Windows both are mappable.
System limitation or OOo Bug or both?

Aha! I didn't think to mention that it was the main section of the keyboard - sorry.

It can't be a system limitation, ISTM. As I said, it works in the Gimp and MS
Word under wine, so it must be something within OOo (or, at least, in the way
OOo interacts with the system!).

I have problems in the Danish version 1.9.82 setting any Shortcut keys.

When I use shift+ctrl+key then it just ignores the ctrl key and insert the key
like shift+ctrl+e gives E.

Shift+F3 and Shift+Space doesn't work either - Shift+Space inserts a space.

I have raised the priority to 2 because it is very important that you can
assign functions to shortcut keys.
Comment 9 ooo 2005-03-13 12:18:49 UTC
Forgot to mention that for me shortcut keys works in both version 1.1.3 and
1.1.4.
Comment 10 ooo 2005-03-13 13:19:01 UTC
Please ignore my to two entries above - my problem is another issue which is
already fixed. Sorry for disturbing.

cd: Set back priority and target as this bug must be fixed by implementing some
low-level parts completely new. This cannot be achieved in the OOo 2.0 time frame.

cd->cs: Please think before you set a bug to a different target. This bug is
about changing our internal key processing to enable users to also use the
famous ALT key.
