Here's the drawing I used. Number of objects seems to play here (5.85 KB, application/octet-stream)

I think framework is the right place, but maybe api? This idea came out of a
thread on the the discussion list:

> I really like this idea. If I could (on a per document basis) automatically
save multiple formats when I save that would be very helpful for collaboration.
For example you could have an "advanced" button in the saveas dialog that allows
you to select multiple formats. So if I'm working on a text docuement I could
have it save native 6.0, 5.2, MSWord, HTML, and/or PDF files, etc. The only
confusing part is which one do you load when you goto open the file again? Maybe
generate a subfolder and put them in there. For example say I'm working on
"myfile.sxw" and I wanted to also have .doc and .pdf files, OOo would create a
subfolder call "myfile.sxw" and put "myfile.doc" and "myfile.pdf" in it.

TM->FT: Please have a look at this enhancement !

Just some comments:
I see no problem to implement this, but I wouldn't overestimate the
benefit.
It does not really help for collaboration, because it's a one-way
feature: if the "other" application you're trying to collaborate with
doesn't provide you with the same formats, you can't work together.
It makes it just a little bit easier to give others a copy of your work.

Opps sorry, wrong issue. Ignore that file.
Comment 5 falko.tesch 2003-09-29 10:45:30 UTC
Add "Save as copy" to the "File" menu.
This entry allows the user to save a file in a different output format
(e.g. a writer doc into HTML) but leave the current (open) document
format intact.

save as copy is standard stuff, I think is good. But the real
innovation is automatic publishing aspect, particularily pdf's.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
