Description burnus 2002-02-23 13:15:57 UTC
The International Bank Account Number (IBAN, ISO 13616:1997) becomes more and
more popular. It looks like
 DE44 1001 0000 0123 4567 8910
(1)(2) (---3--) (-----4-------)

(1) ISO 3166 two-letter country code
(2) Checksum (modulo 97)
(3) Bank identifier (in Germany (BLZ) 8 characters)
(4) The account number (in Germany 10 characters)
The IBAN is up to 35 characters long.

Since the IBAN contains a checksum, it would be nice if the spreadsheed whould
allow to check whether an entered IBAN is valid.
The IBAN is used in twenty (European) countries and will replace (in the
longterm) the domestic account number.
Comment 1 burnus 2002-02-23 13:17:32 UTC
mark it as duplicate of issue #3178.
This had been submitted twice.
Comment 2 frank 2002-02-25 08:37:52 UTC
set this one as duplicate because 3178 has more important information

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3178 ***
