Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 34959
Bullet point indenting broken on delete
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:08:32 UTC
Bullet point behaviour in Presentation is broken. For example: Steps to reproduce: 1) Click "bullets on" button in a text box 2) Enter one line of text as first line 3) Press enter to create next bullet point 4) Press tab to indent bullet 5) Change your mind and press backspace to delete second bullet Result: First bullet point is indented by the same amount as user indented second bullet point before deleting it, and won't respond to unindent commands Expected Behaviour: Second bullet point is removed, first bullet point is unaffected
Reassigned to Christian.
Here it works with OOo-1.1.3 (German version) and SuSE 9.1 as expected. So I cannot confirm this behaviour here.
Still happens in the 1.1.3 version I just downloaded from openoffice.org. Possibly something SuSE has patched?
Which distribution are you using? The OOo versions I am running are also original ones from OOo (1.1.3, 1.9.60 and one CWS version from last week), so I do not think that this is that important ... Maybe some updates or something I have installed at the meantime ... ;)
I'm using Ubuntu (Warty Warthog official), which uses GNOME 2.8, libc-2.3.2 and XFree86-4.3.0. I've removed the distro version of Openoffice (1.1.2) completely and installed 1.1.3 in /usr/local. It only happens in text boxes with left align set, as far as I can see.
set to new and change the milestone and the prio
I can reproduce the bug. When I deselect the textobject after deleting the second bullet point the first line jump back to the correct position. Please have a look.
I can't reproduce it on the KDE-integrated build of 1.1.3 I downloaded a while back (the one linked to by dot.kde.org) or in the Mandrake 10.1 official version of 1.1.3 I currently have installed. It seems that versions which do show this bug are the ones which don't do the alternating bullet point style change on pressing tab. I guess whichever patch it is which provides that functionality also fixes this bug.

Please provide feedback and re-test with one of the latest versions of OOo - the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the latest stable version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be closed or progressed as necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future.
