Description Frank Schönheit 2004-12-17 09:19:51 UTC
- in any OOo document, chose File|New|Database
=> the wizard for creating new database documents starts
Note that the first entry in the left-hand-side roadmap is focused
- press Tab
=> the second entry in the left-hand-side roadmap is focused
- press Tab
=> note that there's no focus rectangle at all anymore
- press Tab
=> still no visual feedback about the current focus
- press Tab
=> the focus jumps to the first control on the tab page

There are two strange things here:
1. Most important, the "vanishing" focus, which contradicts basic Accessibility
   rules
2. Less important, but still annoying: Why does a single "Tab" focus the next
roadmap item, instead of simply jumping out of the roadmap?
Basically, I see a roadmap similar to a group of radio buttons: Only one can
be selected at a time. We should be consistent here, IMO:
   - When the roadmap recieves the focus, the focus rectangle should be put
     around the currently selected item
   - When "Tab" is pressed while the roadmap is focused, the roadmap
     completely loses the focus
Additionally, to allow "skipping" items when traveling within the roadmap, I
   suggest:
   - when Ctrl+Cursor down/up is pressed, the next/previous item in the
roadmap is *focused*, but not *selected*. This would be consistent with the
behavior in other list-like controls, e.g. the file view in the
File|Open-dialog,
     and simple list boxes.

adding the keywords to indicate that this is an accessibility issue
Comment 2 Frank Schönheit 2004-12-17 10:33:52 UTC
I just checked, and it seems that the current behavior even contradicts the
specification: Accordingto
http://specs.openoffice.org/installation/wizards/Wizards_NewConcept.sxw, the
single items in the roadmap do not have a tab index associated with them - which
means they should not participate in the tab sequence.
