Description Unknown 2002-05-03 00:48:58 UTC
Yet another feature request, I frequently am in a position where I have to
share confidential files with co-workers. An ideal way to share those files
would be to incorporate gpg or pgp encryption into the save-as dialog menu.
The dialog would not only include conventional password encryption, but public
key encryption to self and public key encryption to multiple recipients.

TM->FT: Issue type is "Feature", so please have a look, Thanks !

We are currently re-working our whole concept of collaboration (incl.
encryption). Thwerefore I will put this one to Office Late.

Issue:
Use PGP ebncryption as an alternative to the standard encryption used
for files.

Why does this need to be put to Office Late just because the whole issue of
collaboration is in flux? Being able to encrypt and/or sign documents using
'conventional' encryption, OpenPGP encryption and signing and X.500 encryption
and signing should be a given today! MS Office has allowed digital signing and
encryption using X500 certificates for some time, hasn't it? OpenPGP is both a
standard and open and makes just as much sense as X500 certificates.

Collaboration is a separate issue. Sure, collaboration without the possibility
of encryption/signing would be meaningless. But encryption/signing should be
built into OOo anyway. Anything that happens collaboration-wise could then
simply make use of the security framework already built-in.

Integrate PGP and X500 encryption and signing would be very usefull for all
people. Publish articles in internet, send customer pricelist to clients, and
so on...

About colaboration environment, options as "Warning on untrusted docs",
"auto-sign", would be very usefull as well...

This is something I want to have. Before noticing this feature request, I wanted
to create an on-line petition to add this feature. I've spoke with the
OpenOffice security team and they told me that the proposal make sense.

Developers: do you think that an on-line petition would help introducing this?

Thanks. Regards,
  Giuseppe

P.S. I was thinking about introducing this feature using a plugin or file filter
approach (so that sdt for example stands for "secure odt").

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
