Description bmarcelly 2005-03-06 19:11:53 UTC
I want to change the icon of a toolbar button. I use the import feature to find
another icon.
If the Open File dialog already has the Preview checkbox checked, the icon image is
not displayed. I have to un-check then check the checkbox to let the icon image
display.

The problem is still present on 1.9.130, on Windows XP.

Please do exactly as described in my initial comment:
"If the Open File dialog already has the Preview checkbox checked, the icon image is
not displayed."

Note:
If the Open File dialog start display with Preview un-checked, the icon panel will
appear if you check Preview. In this case choose an icon and OK. Immediately after,
re-open the Open File dialog, and you are in the configuration I described 6 months
ago.

Confirmed - Windows XP SP2, OOo 2.0.1.

To reproduce:
1) Select "Customize Toolbar" from a toolbar menu.
2) Select a toolbar element, click the "Modify" button, and select "Change Icon."
3) Click the "Import" button
4) Click the "Preview" checkbox
5) Select and import an icon. (Make sure you actually hit "ok" not "cancel".)
6) Click "Import" again. Now, the preview select box will be checked, but no
preview will be available. To regain the preview, you must uncheck and recheck
the "Preview" box.

Aparently the box is not being polled by the software when the dialog starts.

I can't reproduce with OOo 2..0.2.
Comment 7 Olaf Felka 2006-03-07 15:53:14 UTC
Please reopen if you can reproduce in OOo 2.0.2. Please attach bugdocs.

I can still reproduce in 2.0.2, therefore I am reopening.

This is definitely a confusing issue, because at first glance everything APPEARS
to work properly. But, if you follow steps 1-6 as I posted them I believe you
will uncover the problem.

I will attach two screenshots that illustrate the nature of the problem. The
first screenshot is how the icon import dialog appears after step (4) of my
procedure to reproduce the problem. The first screenshot is, in other words, the
proper and desired behavior. The second screenshot is how the icon import dialog
appears after step (6). The second screenshot shows the defect: when opening the
dialog with the preview box PRECHECKED, then the preview is unavailable.

I can understand how a quick glance would tell you that the preview is working
properly, but this is not a problem with the preview as a whole. It is only a
problem with reading the state of the "Preview" checkbox when the dialog is
first opened.

Other than screenshots, what "bugdocs" might I be able to attach that would help?

Thanks,

Steve

As an additional note:

This is borderline between a P3 and P4 issue... I will leave it to a developer
to downgrade the priority if necessary.
