Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44499
.xls import crash after asking user to select type of unrecognized 'dif' content
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
On WinXP and 2000, under OOo 1.9.79 and OOo 1.9.74, and on 5 computers, whenever I try to open a specific .xls file, OpenOffice just crashes. The file is a spreadsheet about 2000 x 8 (rows by columns). Where do I send the file? Thanks.

Ok, I did get the file attached.
confirm with m81 on SuSE 9.2
Hi Eike, the attached file isn't an native Excel file but seems to be a DIF file. Frank
Accepted. Yes, it's a DIF file, with white space in VECTORS and TUPLES counts, and in LABEL numbers. For some reason the filter detection also complains with an assertion, which it shouldn't.
On branch cws_src680_dr34: sc/source/filter/dif/difimp.cxx 1.8.2.1 sc/source/ui/unoobj/scdetect.cxx 1.12.16.1
