Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 45917
Accessibility: JAWS 6.0 freezes OOoCalc
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:13:53 UTC
On Windows start JAWS 6.0 and enable the support for accessibility tools in OOo. Now start a spreadsheet => OOo freezes and allocates a lot of memory OC=>MT: This happens also with OOo1.1.4 therefor this issue is set to OOo2.0.1
set accessibility keyword.
kla->Mt: Same behaviour with ZoomText 7.11. and 8.1.
MT->NN: I assume we removed the hack to expose only a limited number of cells to AT. Seems we must change that on Windows: Default is to do the hack, and introduce an environmant variable "DISABLE_AT_CELLCOUNT_HACK", so people with 'working' AT can get all information they need. IMHO it's not enough to introduce an environmant variable for *activating* the hack, because people will not know what to do if calc freezes. Please check if this can be done for OOo 2.0
kla->MT / NN: Same with Gnopernicus Screen reader (JDS 3)

After testing a little bit with the different Java versions and access bridge versions we found out, the the Office works at its best with Java 1.5 and Java Access Bridge 2.0 Beta, which you can found here: http://java.sun.com/developer/earlyAccess/accessbridge/index.html Also the Java Access Bridge 1.0.3 works. The versions between these two don't work. For Jaws we need another solution, but because it did also not work on OOo 1.1.4 I suggest to change the target to OOo 2.0.1 or 2.0.2.
Set to 2.01 because only JAWS is affected and this happened also in OOo1.4
According to MT, it works with JAWS 6.10.
Sorry, but is does not (JAWS 6.10, Java 1.502, Accessbridge 2.01)
MT->OC: Works for me with OOo m122, JAWS 6.2 and Access Bridge 2 BETA2 It looks like it hangs, because cursor keys don't work, but that's JAWS fault, if they hook them for some reason...
fixed with the Version 6.2 of JAWS
closed because works with latest version of JAWS 6.2
