Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49117
Word doc incorrectly displayed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I have a file I created in Word 2000, and have updated and viewed in Word XP. It makes HEAVY use of tables. The whole thing, as a matter of fact, is one large table that takes up exactly one page. When I open it in Word, it displays as one page. When I open it in OOo Write 1.9.100, it displays as two pages, with the last row moved on to the second page. Doing a side by side comparison, I see that some of the rows in the OOo displayed version are much taller than then Word verison.
Created attachment 26039 [details] This is the file with the tables. "There are many like it, but this one is mine."
Created attachment 26045 [details] same document, but related cells are highlighted
MRU->FME: i have highlighted the related row, where the cells are to high. Though this row does not have a fixed height, Word breaks the text into two lines; Writer doesn't... Do you know if Word has different rules for breaking cells with vertical text?
If you look at the cells under Eductation, there's one with a bunch of text in there: Attended school or college any time since Sept. 1, 1929 When you look at it in Word, you see it's broken into two lines, vertically, "top" line to the left, and "bottom" line to the right. When you look at it in OOo Writer, you see two lines of vertical text, one over the other, so the "top" line, is actually on top, and the "bottom" line, is actually on bottom. Turned sideways, it looks like this: time since Sept. 1, 1929Attended school or college any So, it looks like OOo Writer is stacking the vertical text vertically, instead of stacking it horizontally.
