Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 53674
Vertical alignment mismatch between formulas and text
Last modified: 2005-08-30 18:56:18 UTC
Attached is a file indicating several cases with a vertical alignment mismatch between formulas and surrounding text
Created attachment 28987 [details] Vertical alignment problem between formulas and text
The same mis-alignment occurs with formulas in footnotes using e.g. A sub 1 and b sub 1 sup 2. Also after scaling to the surrounding text. In my case footnotes have point size 10 so I use size 10 {A sub 1} and size 10 { b sub 1 sup 2.
formuila objects will be aligned to their physical size, not at th real content. MRU->UserEx: maybe a new property could be added to formulas - a property which describes where to put the reference point for the baseline which can be used in the text.
If such a property is added the -default- should be to vertically align a formulas main symbol like 'a' in a sub 2 sup 3 with the surrounding text. In case the formula has a single division bar then that should be the default reference point for horizontal alignment. The vertical alignment of formulas now moves around even in a single sentence. Therefore I hope that this can be resolved in the 2.0 version.
Please look at issue 972, perhaps it is better to vote there?
