Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5453
Cannot easily edit hyperlinks (exceptin Writer)
Last modified: 2007-05-03 14:39:01 UTC
Once an email address had been turned into a URL, you cannot edit it as you can in Writer. If you misstype something you have to delete the whole thing and start over.
Try this: - Go to the cell (do not click on the hyperlink, i.e. use cursor keys) - Menu Insert->Hyperlink
Works
Expanding the cell so that there is white space allows me to enter the cell, but using the arrow keys, the cursor simply jumps from start to end or visa-versa. It should be editable as it is in writer. Using the cursor keys, you can go to the problem and add or delete characters. Selecting the URL then clicking the Insert -> Hyperlink allows me to edit, but it is extremenly user unfriendly as I don't think the average user would figure out that "Insert" means "Edit" in this case. One should be able to enter the cell and use the arrow keys to go to problem and add or delete characters as needed similar to the way writer handles hyperlinks.
Hi Falko, 1 4 U. I think I complained to someone about this behaviour too. Best regards, Peter
To edit an URL in Writer one can permanently switch from "HYP" to "SEL" mode within the status bar. This allows tro easily edit hyperlinks. It is desired to add this feature also to all other office applications to make editing of Hyperlinks easier.
