Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 54681
Cannot remove left-to-right and right-to-left buttons from toolbar
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:00:21 UTC
I have CTL-enabled. The text toolbar has left-to-right and right-to-left buttons. I try to remove them using the Visible Buttons, because I use only Thai, but this has no effect.
The automatic visibility of the LTR/RTL prevents you from getting rid of them using the "Visible buttons" setting. I don't see a simple way to fix it. The workaround is to remove the buttons from the toolbar using Tools/Configure.
I can use your workaround to remove them, but then I cannot get them back: even after I reenable them in Tools/Configure, I cannot get the buttons back using the Visible Buttons menu.
This workaround doesn't really work. I can disable the buttons once, but when I exit and restart OpenOffice the buttons come back, and at that point, even using Tools/Configure can't get rid of them.
cd->os: We discussed this problem by phone. This is clearly a user experience problem which cannot be solved by us. As FT designed the current feature he has to find a better way to resolve this issue. cd->ft: Please take over and find a way which suits all users.
FT: Show L2R and R2L Buttons only when the selected locale for CTL is whether Arabic, Hebrew or Urdu. Otherwise hide them.
cd: Accepted.
