Description pucca 2005-12-13 03:53:11 UTC
Kubuntu Breezy (2.6.12-9) with KDE 3.4.3 and OOo 2.0.

Clicking on a link in OOo opens Konqueror no matter what, not the system's
default browser. This has been tried with Writer, Impress and Calc, and the
nature of the problem dictates that it's likely it exists for the entire
framework.

According to the spec Browser Detection on UNIX the command 'kfmclient openURL
$uri" is run. However, running this command in a shell opens Opera, which is
what it should do, so OOo seems to be doing some funny stuff. Any other
application opening the browser also opens Opera.

A fix to the problem is changing the link '/usr/bin/x-www-browser' to point to
Opera instead of Konqueror, so OOo doesn't seem to be running 'kfmclient' at it
says it does.

I meant the link '/etc/alternatives/x-www-browser', not '/usr/bin/x-www-
browser'.
Comment 2 Mathias_Bauer 2005-12-13 13:48:10 UTC
Christoph, this looks to like a problem of system integration
Comment 3 ecastro 2005-12-15 22:49:05 UTC
Here using Kubuntu breezy and KDE 3.4.3 and OOo 2.0.1RC4.
OOo links open in Firefox, default system browser, even if
/etc/alternatives/x-www-browser points to konqueror or whatever.
/etc/alternatives/x-www-browser is _not_ used by OOo in my system.
Please, see in KDE System Settings>User Account>Default Applications
Comment 4 pucca 2005-12-16 17:43:42 UTC
System Settings>User Account>Default Applications is correctly set to Opera.

Comment 7 ivo.hinkelmann 2006-07-03 15:49:38 UTC
target -> 2.x
Comment 8 Mathias_Bauer 2007-12-04 16:20:22 UTC
according to release status meeting -> target 3.x
Comment 9 jbf.faure 2008-01-01 17:41:11 UTC
In my case OOo 2.3.1 launches Konqueror and OOo-Dev 2.4 (m239) launches Firefox.
Kubuntu 6.06, no preferred browser defined.

SBA: This issue has a target set but is still in state of "Unconfirmed".
Please re-check with OOo 3.0 or younger if it is (still) valid.
Then confirm it or set an appropriate resolution.
Thank you.

I confirm this - even in OO 3.1 - it doesn't respect the default browser -
Firefox in my case and opens a link in Konqueror.

Moreover - I am not able to set the browser used in the OO options?!

Bug is too old, the issue is not present on current versions of AOO.
