Description ojenkins 2005-12-27 02:14:19 UTC
Impress seems to have an internal overflow error when dealing with objects or
images that are located far off the edge of the page. In the attached sample
files, an image is placed farther and farther off the edge of the page. After
it is approximately 55 inches to the right of the page and 42 inches above the
page, the image is automatically moved and resized. The new location has one
corner of the image at the upper left corner of the page. The new size of the
image is a 44.93 inches wide and 54.38 inches high.

Attached are copies of the original PowerPoint document, the PowerPoint document
converted to Impress, and the PowerPoint document converted to Impress converted
back to PowerPoint. Also included are images showing the repositioning and
distortion that occur. I believe this is an interoperability defect since I've
seen no mention of art board limits in the Impress specifition and PowerPoint
handles those distances fine.

I can reproduce the bug.
Please have a look.

AW->SJ: All objects outside the 'Wiese' need to be moved to be completely
inside, but without scaling.
Comment 11 ojenkins 2006-01-19 18:22:20 UTC
AW, What does the term 'wiese' mean in relation to OOo? I haven't been able to
find much mention of the term on the OpenOffice.org website or documentation.
Is it the size of the page or is it the viewable area outside of the page within
a certain range? If an image is outside of the wiese, is the correct action to
place the image inside of the wiese as close to the original location as possible?

For example, if the wiese is represented as a square on a grid with it's corners
at (5,5),(5,-5),(-5,-5),(-5,5) and an object is placed outside of the wiese at
(8,3), the object would be relocated to (5,3) so that it is within the wiese
boundary. Likwise if an object were at (12,7), the object would be relocated to
(5,5) so that it is within the wiese boundary.

accpted.

By saying "wiese" aw meant the grey area beside the white page in Impress.
