Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 60142
Digital Certificates issue
Last modified: 2006-03-20 11:27:13 UTC
I'm Gerardo Lapadula and I work for the Information Technologies National Office (Argentinian Government). Our team was mainly dedicated to research any issues regarding Digital Signatures, in that matters we've been testing OpenOffice.org 2.0 and encountered that some digital certificates aren't supported. After those tests we realised that OpenOffice doesn't support digital certificates issued by CAs with some characters in its Distinguished Name (DN), particularly the following: á, é, Ã, ó, ú and quotation marks ("). For instance the CN: AC de la SubsecretarÃa de Gestión Pública isn't supported. This error do happen within the CA certificate, so we suppose the bug is in the checking of 'Validation Path' of certificates. We hope you could find and resolve this issue. Best regards.

JL->glapadula: Could you give some more information? Are the problematic certificates displayed in the "Certificate Selection" dialog, where you select the certificate with which you want to perform the sign operation? Does the signing operation fail altogether or is the signature/certificate afterwards displayed as invalid? Would it be possible to provide us the CA certificate and a issued test certificate?
