Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 62196
'File > New > Templates and Documents' Tries to open *.lnk itself as document instead of linked Template
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:01:16 UTC
The dialog box opened from “File > New > Templates and Documents†does not support Windows XP shortcuts. This is inconsistent with the File > Open dialog box (and other file-open-related dialogs) which do support shortcuts. Test to show the problem: Place a shortcut to a folder in “My Documents†called “My shortcutâ€. Do File > Open, select “My Documents†, and then select “My shortcut†- The referenced folder can be opened. Do File > New > Templates and Documents, select “My Documents†, and then select “My shortcut.lnk†- The shortcut is opened as a file and not as a folder. See also issue 3322 which was closed/wontfix.
confirmed with OOo 2.0.2 RC1 on WinXP Pro SP2
TM->requirements: please have a look, thanks !
Some additional info: --------------------- (a) The Templates management dialog seems to be an AOO dialog (not an OS dialog), so this one is a DUP of the more general Bug report "Bug 4306 - AOO File dialog opens *.lnk itself as document instead of opening linked document" (b) Still Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI / German locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1562493 - 2014-01-30]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile. (c) Because option to use OS dialogs does not exist here, currently AOO is not able to handle .lnk for templates. That's not "Trivial" *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of issue 4306 ***
