Description chrismwilk 2006-06-27 16:40:44 UTC
Recently I have reinstalled Debian Sarge (stable). Then I installed OO.org
2.0.2. OO Writer seems to work correctly, whereas OO Impress crashes on opening
either a PPT presentation or an ODP presentation.

The same faulty behaviour I observed while I was using original DEB packages
(en_GB variant) and alien-converted DEB packages (en_US variant).

Steps to reproduce (works on my machine):
- start OO (soffice)
- open a presentation
- focus on any slide
- "OpenOffice.org Data Recovery" window appears with information about recovery
of previously opened presentation.
- click on "Start recovery" button (recovery succeeds)
- click "Next"
- "OpenOffice.org Error Report" window appears
- click "Send" or "Don't send"
- presentation opens for a few seconds
- "OpenOffice.org Data Recovery" window appears
- etc.

My configuration:
Linux: Debian Sarge
Kernel: 2.6.8 (Debian)
Libc: 2.3.2.ds1-22 (Debian)
Java: Sun JDK 1.5.0_07

Is my configuration wrong?

Reassigned.

Hello,

I have noticed nearly the same issue with the precompiled binaries (version
2.0.2 and 2.0.1) and Debian Sarge.

Impress starts, the "Open Presentation"-Wizard pops up and then the application
crashes. Then appears the "OpenOffice Data Recovery"-Wizard, and at last
OO-Writer starts.

Opening presentation from OO-Writer or OO-Office also crashes the application.

The debanized packages of OpenOffice from www.backports.org don't have this bug.

Thank for advice.

I will check backport binaries tonight and report the results.

If they work that's enough for me but it does not mean that OO.org should
publish broken binaries (and label them stable) on their site :).

I compiled OOo 2.0.2 on Debian Sarge from sources. However the error still
occurs, so it doesn't look like a "simple" library issue :(

OO.org DEB packages from backport.org work for me.

My friend who runs Debian testing does not have problems with them.

There is only one drawback - they are OO.org 2.0.0 packages, not OO.org 2.0.2
Comment 6 hmense 2006-06-29 08:58:39 UTC
Backports.org has OOo 2.0.1. Debian Testing has currently 2.0.1 for i386 and
only 2.0.0 for sparc architecture.

Packages for OOo 2.0.2 are already in Debian Unstable.

The just released version 2.0.3 is also affected by this bug.

Please have a look.

unfortunately, this task won't make it for OOo 2.0.4 due to resource
constraints. Retargeting to OOo 2.x
