This is no defect. New type: enhancement.
Re-assigned to Bettina Haberer.
Nevertheless I agree that we need to support more characters

Could we have this at Priority 3? I really would like to be able use
spaces or dashes/minus signs (" " & "-") in my sheet names, they are
commonly used characters! Also, does this affect other platforms, too?
Comment 4 hans_werner67 2003-05-26 09:27:10 UTC
Can't beleave it. Other office vendors allow it! In my eyes it is a
bug not a feature.

Please set priority up to P3 and set a concrete target.

Another point is, why do we use such senseless error messages? If you
try to use a spreadsheet name twice the same error message occurs as
if you typed in a disallowed character.

This is causing problems when importing an Excel spreadsheet. Characters like a
dot, parentheses etc. in sheet names are converted to an underscore, and then
functions like Address() don't work because the sheet names don't match what
they expect.

Therefore, please add the ms_interoperability keyword and raise priority as
appropriate. Thank you.

Hi all,

found that this is basically a double to Issue 6087. I've set the flags accordingly.

Please transfer your votes.
