Description Andrea Pescetti 2006-08-29 20:40:21 UTC
1. Create an empty Writer document.
2. Modifica -> Cerca e Sostituisci (Edit -> Find and Replace).
3. Search "text".
4. A warning appears, with the text "Termine non trovato.".

The dialog is a few pixels too short to contain the whole warning text: the last
letter is cut.

Replacing "Termine non trovato." by "Testo non trovato." should solve the problem.

Assigning to iano as usual.
Comment 2 petr.dudacek 2006-11-14 20:59:10 UTC
This is not a translation issue. The dialog with error message changes its size
according to the string displayed inside. However, its width is always a few
pixels lower than it should be.

The attached screenshot contains two dialogs to illustrate the behaviour - one
taken on a normal build, the other on a keyid build.

-> reassign to sba

I can not confirm that problem with
"2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" "Classic design" and "WIN XP
design" monitor 1024 * 768

"2.1.0 German version WIN XP: [680m6(Build9095)]" "WIN XP design" monitor 1280* 800

I can't reproduce the problem with French versions 2.3.1 and OOH680_m2 under Linux
pescetti, are you still experincing the problem with current 2.3.1 version ?
What kind of UI font are you using ?
Comment 6 Andrea Pescetti 2008-01-29 23:00:01 UTC
Still experiencing the problem under Linux with default UI font.
OOo 2.3.1 official Italian.
I see "Termine non trovato" when I should probably see "Termine non trovato.":
the final full stop is not shown.
Now, this is an improvement over the original situation (see old screenshots)
but it doesn't seem OK yet.

confirming with OOo 2.4.1 on linux. The dialog-box is a little too short.
Comment 8 jbf.faure 2008-07-15 18:31:45 UTC
This kind of issue is very common for non English language. I think we need a
global approach taking l10n needs into account during design phase of dialogs
and labels.
Comment 9 Andrea Pescetti 2008-07-16 00:03:52 UTC
jbfaure: If the comments above are right, this is not the common issue you refer
to (i.e., English texts being shorter than their translations). It seems this
specific dialog is always smaller than it should be, a localisation-independent
problem.
