Description epiola 2006-09-22 12:19:33 UTC
Hello,
We have developed an Hunspell dictionary and affix file for the Basque
language and we want to use them in OOo.
We put the dictionary and the affix file in the dictionaries directory and we
insert the following line for the Basque in dictionaries.lst file:

   DICT eu ES eu_ES

After that, in OOo Writer we select Basque as a "Default language for the
documents" etc... but it does not work (there is no tick symbol in Basque when
we select it from the language list).

We have tried to put the same dictionary to another language (for example, es
ES) and it works perfectly. So, whe assume there must be something wrong with
the Basque locale. We assume that the language code for Basque is "eu" and the
country code is "ES", but maybe this is a wrong assumption.

So, what do we have to do to assign a dictionary/affix to Basque?

Hi,

Great news!

For Basque, use the "ANY" region:

DICT eu ANY eu_ES

Best regards,

Laci

PS: Will you convert the Basque TeX hyphenation patters
(ftp://tug.ctan.org/pub/tex-archive/language/basque/bahyph.tex)?

This Issue has been open since Sep 2006 and does not cause crashing, downgrading
priority 1-> 3.

@'epiola', has your problem been fixed by the suggestion from 'nemeth'? Or does
a defect still exist in the latest version of OOo?

Regards,
Andrew

Laurentgodard: Hi Laurent, It seems, it is a problem for Basque DicOOo module.
If yes, could you change the relevant line to "DICT eu ANY eu_ES"? Many thanks, Laci

no basque spellchecker available in repository or for testing
please provide it

Laurent: Sorry for my misentry about DicOOo.

It seems, the Basque dictionary is published only on a Basque web page last
year. (The Basque documentation contains the correct installation procedure).
I have linked it to the OOo Dictionaries Wiki page
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries#Basque).

Current Basque dictionary has a big redundant affix table with 5 sec. loading
time. I will optimize it and close this issue.

the last dictionary is available here:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/xuxen

so it works for me
