Description aietkolkhi 2006-11-03 15:38:06 UTC
When viewing OOo help in Georgian, the list of chapters on the left columns
displayes Georgian text without problems, but the Georgian titles and actual
chapter contents on the right show up as cubes isntead of Georgian characters.

Apparently automatic font-switching does not seem to work on the right column of
help browser.

The issue exists on latest SuSE / SLED / Ubuntu using latest GNOME and KDE from
repositories.

Have other unicode-only languages have had similar issue?

This looks like there's a font missing on your system. Changing priority to
something suitable
Comment 3 ivo.hinkelmann 2006-11-03 16:14:08 UTC
er, is this a i18n issue?
Comment 4 ooo 2006-11-03 16:57:36 UTC
Squares displayed instead of glyphs is almost always a font problem. Maybe font
substitution does help, try Tools.Options.Office.Fonts replacement table. If a
suitable pair is found, we may add it to
officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/VCL.xcu If nothing helps, ask the help
browser (Writer) people.

aiet , is this still present in the second build I put on the webserver?
Comment 6 ivo.hinkelmann 2006-12-19 18:00:09 UTC
reassign back
Comment 7 timar74 2007-01-08 14:53:29 UTC
Aiet,

I do not see the 'ka' directory in helpcontent2\source\auxiliary\

It should be created and populated with *.css and *.cfg files. In *.css files
you can set the preferred order of fonts to be used for displaying help contents.

vg, please check the "ka" auxillary folder in HC2
Comment 9 vg 2007-01-19 16:56:28 UTC
the "ka" auxillary folder in HC2 is added in CWS fixed in the CWS localisation19
Comment 10 epost 2007-01-22 14:17:12 UTC
set target to 2.3 as it does not seem realistic that this will be implemented
until the 2.2 code freeze
Comment 11 ivo.hinkelmann 2007-03-12 11:50:30 UTC
aiet, issue fixed in OOo 2.2 rc?
Comment 12 aietkolkhi 2007-03-12 12:49:37 UTC
Hi Ivo,

yes, the issue has been fixed in as far as the Georgian characters are visible,
but I am still truggling with findinf the correct font substitution rule as the
fonts are still incorrectly displayed, not only in help browser, but also in
general menu and dialogs.

Hi aietkolkhi,

just one question, why is the status 'unconfirmed'. There has been some
discussion and you seem to try to fix it. So, the status should be 'new' or
'started'. If you do not have the privilege of 'canconfrim', please send me a
note and I take action for you.

Best regards
Peter

Thanks for the letting me know, Peter. I though only component owner should change the status. I have
changed the status as started.

I still have little success in getting the correct font display Georgian characters in Win XP. The default
font for Georgian in XP is "Sylfaen", which is installed one the user activates "install support for complex
scripts and RTL languages" in Regional Settings.

I have put Sylfaen in VCL.xcu but it does not seem to help.

Could someone advise how I can get correct UI font for dialogs and menus displayed when Georgian is
selected as UI language?

Thanks.

Aiet: I think better ask in the list (e.g. dev@l10n).

Please set the target when you have the fix ready.
