Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 74888
Special Characters displayed white on white background in dialogue
Last modified: 2008-07-10 22:54:24 UTC
After setting default background to blue, and default font color to white, the Specials dialog box still displays special characters as white, and they remain invisible. It is the case for Calc and Writer, possibly for other apps as well. See the screenshot attached.

TM->SBA: Looks like something for the writer-team,... please have a look.
.
I checked with "2.2.0RC4 German version WIN XP: [680m14(Build9134)]" (and also "2.2.0 Dev. Snapshot WIN XP: [680m7(Build9118)]") and can confirm the problem Steps to reproduce: 1. Open new text document 2. Set background to blue in menu 'Tools > Options > Appearance > Document background" 3. Set character colour to blue in menu 'Tools > Options > Appearance > Document background" 4. Menu 'Insert > Special Characters' expected: characters visible (for example white characters on blue background) actual: characters invisible (white characters on white background) The problem is, that the dialogue uses the character colour setting, but not the background colour setting. This is a general problem (I also tested CALC). This is a duplicate of Issue 51189, what is marked as DUP of fixed Linux (?) issue 48124. I can't decide whether this is really fixed becaus I do not know where 'vcl49' has been integrated, but I believe it's still a bug. @milek_pl: Please specify your OS and Platform
@reinerbielefeld: my OS is as specified in the issue (Windows XP), I found the issue on 2.2 RC1. Probably the problem of the background change is connected to color theme change, and to text background color change, which makes it harder to debug. Note: could not reproduce on 2.2.1 RC2. Please check if you can, if not, it is probably fixed.
SBA: Reproducible in OOo 2.3. Affects all platforms and OS, adjusted fields. SBA->HDU: As discussed with PL, please proceed (overwrite "font colour" with "field colour").
These regressions were introduced with the accessability feature => fixed in CWS vcl83 by using the field colors
@ES: please verify in CWS vcl83
