Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 78126
[aqua] Cannot bring another window in front of splash screen
Last modified: 2008-05-22 14:47:10 UTC
When I start OpenOffice.org the splash screen stay in front of all other applications until OOo is fully loaded. Even when I try to use Expose fonctionnalities, OOo stay on front. I'm not sure about the version. Help/About says: OpenOffice 2.3 Thanks.
Is this aqua or X11? You can get the exact version number in the about dialog after pressing control+sdt (The key s,d and t one after the other while holding the control key.
IMHO, milestone m98 is not correct ... can you please provide us more informations ? Screenshots ? - architecture ? (Intel, PowerPC ?) - wich Mac OS X version ? - which version of OpenOffice.org : aqua or X11 ? Thanks
(Sorry, it was my first report) - OpenOffice.org Aqua - Mac OS X 10.4 aka "Tiger" - PowerPC version
Actually the splash screen disappear during the Expose process (F9 key) but come back on front of all aother application until OOo is fully loaded. Exemple: I can't write a mail when OOo is loadung because I can't see my mail.app
Created attachment 45680 [details] Safari is supposed to be in front (red arrow) but splash screen stay here
adding aqua keyword, updating milestone, better summary.
If the splashscreen disappears when OpenOffice.org is started everything is normal. And yes, it does appear as overlay. I do confirm expose makes it disappear too. IMHO, I don't see any issue : the time to load OpenOffice.org depends on the RAM amount , the speed of the processor, ..etc The only thing I see is this is not very Mac like (but is really secondary on Intel machines, since it does only take 3 seconds). I propose to set this issue as lower priority. We'll have a look at optimization time.
Fixed in aquavcl01
OOOops bad issue, sorry
While a minor problem in the scheme of things, I find the modal splashscreen/progress bar very annoying. I'm using an iBook with a 1.42 GHz PowerPCG4 and 1 GB of ram. On initial startup the screen appears after 16 seconds and is blocking other applications for 44 seconds. On subsequent restarts during the same session, the splashscreen comes up after 5 seconds and is in the way for 19 seconds. While 19 seconds doesn't seem like much, when you're sitting there twiddling your thumbs, 19 seconds can seem like an eternity, 44 seconds, two eternities. I hope you can find a way to make the splash screen behave like a proper Mac splash screen and allow other applications to come to the front.
I'm thinking that this was fixed in aquavcl02? Thus the change isn't publicly available yet.
seems to be fixed in aquavcl03+m225
since the cocoa switch this is fixed. closing
